If interplay between lymphocytes, foreign substances and body cells is interrupted by an immune system malfunction, the effects can range from allergies to fatalities
Types of Each: Immune System Malfunctions: Diabetes, Crohn's disease, and Multiple Sclerosis Allergies: Hives, Contact with peanuts, latex and fish, and Asthma Fatalities: Autoimmune and Immune Deficiency Diseases
Allergies: exaggerated hypersensitive responses.
Acute allergic responses sometimes leads to anaphylactic shock: whole body life-threatening reaction that can occur within seconds of exposure.
Autoimmune diseases: when the immune system loses tolerance for itself and turns against itself. Immunodeficiency diseases: the inability of the immune system to protect the body from pathogens and cancer cells that it should normally be able to do. Two types of Immunodeficiencies:
Primary Immunodeficiency:caused by genetic and developmental defects in the immune system.
Secondary Immunodeficiency: develops later in life following exposure to various chemical and biological agents.
