Each type of lymphocyte produces a different response.
Humoral response: cells from B lymphocytes secrete defensive proteins: antibodies that bind to microbes and mark them for elimination. Cell-mediated response: cytotoxic T cells directly destroy infected body cells: cancers and infected tissues.
